Injectables

Dr. Joe Gryskiewicz (“Dr. Joe”) is pleased to offer their patients non-surgical rejuvenation with state-of-the-art injectable and dermal filler treatment at Gryskiewicz Twin Cities Cosmetic Surgery, including options such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, and Jeuveau®, as well as fillers in the JUVÉDERM® and the Restylane® family. Injections are performed at our Burnsville office by Dr. Joe, allowing patients a treatment experience delivered with the precision and expertise of a plastic surgeon.

These minimally invasive procedures can be an excellent way to reverse obvious signs of aging and restore the youthful properties of your skin without the need for surgery or excessive downtime. Facial injectables can also serve as highly effective “touch-up” treatments to complement other aesthetic procedures, such as eyelid surgery or a brow lift.

What Can Injectables Do for Me?

Fillers and injectables can be some of the most effective treatments to look refreshed, brighter, and more youthful. Performed as convenient, in-office injections, these non-surgical services have the power to rejuvenate signs of facial aging without surgery, recovery time, or anesthesia. Depending on the type of injectable used to address your concerns, fillers and neurotoxins (such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and Jeuveau™) can:

The benefits offered by injectable treatments vary from product to product. Knowing the right injectable to achieve your specific goals can be confusing but rest assured that Dr. Gryskiewicz and our aesthetics team will help you find the most ideal product to treat your concerns.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

Perhaps the most well-known facial injectable, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a treatment designed to reduce signs of facial aging by temporarily preventing muscle contractions in areas of the face that cause expression lines, wrinkles, and creases. BOTOX® Cosmetic can effectively rejuvenate facial regions prone to wrinkling, including the horizontal creases on the forehead, vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, and fine lines around the eyes (“crow’s feet”), among other areas. It can also be injected into the muscles encircling the mouth to make the lip naturally roll outward, softening the lips and creating a more noticeable pout. This treatment, known as a Lip Flip, can achieve a more sensual look while smoothing the fine lines that often surround the mouth (“smoker’s lines”).

Jeuveau™

Are frown lines preventing you from looking energized and refreshed? Jeuveau™ is a new injectable treatment specifically designed to smooth deep wrinkles between the brows by relaxing the muscles that cause frown lines to form. Dubbed the “next generation of BOTOX® Cosmetic” or “NEWTOX,” Jeuveau™ can improve an angry or stressed appearance with results that look natural and beautiful. The injectable can also be used in the form of JeuvaDry—an application of Jeuveau™ designed to treat hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating.

JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM® is an extremely popular brand of dermal filler that comes in different formulations to comprehensively address many signs of aging, such as volume loss and wrinkle formation. All products in the JUVÉDERM® family are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in the skin that helps retain moisture, restore volume, and deliver nutrients. Each JUVÉDERM® filler is specially designed to target different facial areas, such as the lips, cheeks, and nasolabial folds.

Restylane®

Restylane® is also an extremely well-known dermal filler composed of hyaluronic acid. Like JUVÉDERM®, there are different versions of Restylane® designed to target unique concerns. This injectable can fill nasolabial folds and marionette lines, as well as enhance volume in the cheeks, lips, and the backs of the hands. Many patients use Restylane® to smooth deeper facial creases and/or augment areas of the face that look sunken. This can help improve common signs of aging, such as wrinkles and loss of facial fullness. Due to the versatility of Restylane® in treating volume loss, the product is often incorporated into a liquid facelift or liquid rhinoplasty treatment plan. These options combine different fillers to augment the face and/or nose, restoring fullness to your facial features without sugery. When incorporated into a liquid rhinoplasty, Restylane® can smooth humps and bumps in the nasal bridge as well as make the nose more symmetrical.

Since the injectable uses hyaluronic acid as its main ingredient, there is typically little to no risk of an allergic reaction when undergoing treatment with Restylane®. Results vary based on which Restylane® product is utilized, but the outcome can generally last between six months and one year.

BELOTERO BALANCE®

If you have deep creases around your nose and mouth that are significantly etched in, BELOTERO BALANCE® may be the perfect treatment option for you. Also composed of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid, BELOTERO BALANCE® is injected to treat moderate to severe facial lines, such as marionette lines, vertical lip lines, and nasolabial folds. This injectable can also be used to fill the tear troughs and correct dark circles, thereby improving signs of tiredness and exhaustion in the upper face.

BELOTERO BALANCE® differs from other injectables because it actually integrates into the skin’s tissue, allowing the filler to rebuild volume at a deeper level and smooth the skin. BELOTERO BALANCE® also comes in the form of a cohesive, flexible gel, giving patients the opportunity to eliminate indications of age while maintaining their natural facial movements. Results from BELOTERO BALANCE® can last approximately six months.

RADIESSE®

RADIESSE® is a filler that can not only achieve a more youthful look, but also stimulate your body’s production of natural collagen for results that last long after the product is metabolized. This unique injectable can improve the appearance of the corners of the mouth, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, chin wrinkles, and pre-jowl folds along the jawline. RADIESSE® is made of calcium microspheres suspended in a water-based gel, which work to plump the skin while producing new collagen over time. The calcium microspheres are naturally absorbed in the following months after injections, leaving behind natural collagen and ongoing rejuvenation that often lasts for over one year.

Is There Downtime After Injectables?

Although some swelling, redness, or potential bruising can be expected, treatment with injectables does not require a recovery period. Patients often greatly appreciate the convenience of cosmetic injections, which typically allows them to return to their daily routine immediately. In fact, many men and women undergo treatment during their lunch break and resume working right after their appointment. For certain treatments, your injector may ask you to refrain from working out or performing any strenuous activity for a few hours or the rest of the day. Any swelling or side effects should resolve gradually within a few days or hours after injections. If you have any questions about what to expect after you get injections, don’t hesitate to call our Minneapolis office for more information.

How Long Do the Results of Injectables Last?

Each injectable and filler has a different “lifespan” depending on the location of treatment and the type of product chosen for your injections. Generally speaking, Jeuveau™ tends to last longer than BOTOX® Cosmetic. Studies show it lasts up to four months when dosed properly. BOTOX® Cosmetic lasts three months on average. Fillers can last relatively longer, with the effects being noticeable anywhere from 12 to 18 months. Once we discuss your treatment plan, our team can give you more detailed information on how long you can expect the outcome to last. All injectables only provide temporary rejuvenation, and touch-up treatments will be necessary to preserve the results.

Injectables can be administered in as little as 15 to 30 minutes and provide rejuvenation for months. Please call our office or contact our Minneapolis-area practice if you’re ready to schedule a consultation with Dr. Gryskiewicz and our team.
