What Are The Most Natural-Looking Breast Implants?

Written By Joe Gryskiewicz, MD, FACS

Breast implants can enhance your appearance. They give your clothes a better fit and improve your self-confidence. Nevertheless, everyone has specific goals when it comes to getting implants. Overly large implants are not an excellent fit for everyone. Moreover, they may not fit your lifestyle or aesthetic goals.

Fortunately, discussing with Dr. Joe Gryskiewicz and Dr. Karan Chopra helps create a customized treatment to give you natural-looking implants.

What Are Natural-Looking Breast Implants?

Natural-looking breast implants are implants that match your anatomy and body proportions. Unlike overly large implants that are easily spotted across a room, natural-looking breast implants augment your breasts without looking like you got a boob job.

Benefits Of Natural-Looking Implants

Less is more also applies to breast augmentation. Smaller and more natural-looking breast implants offer many advantages compared to large implants. Benefits of smaller implants include:

Disadvantages Of Large Implants

Despite recommending smaller-sized implants, you may insist on getting larger implants against your surgeon’s advice. Nevertheless, large implants have a lot of disadvantages, including:

How Do Breast Implants Change Your Appearance?

Breast implants increase your cup size and improve how your clothes fit. They also boost your self-confidence. Other ways breast implants change your appearance include:

Breast implants add volume to your upper body, giving your shoulders a similar proportion to your hips. Consequently, you get to have the much-coveted hourglass shape. However, it is essential to note that large breasts may not always be suitable, especially if you are petite. Therefore, kindly discuss your expected results with your surgeon for the perfect and most natural look.

Breast implants create a distinct contrast between your chest and midsection. As a result, your waist and abdomen will look much slimmer and smaller than your body’s upper half. In addition, you can get a tummy tuck procedure to enhance the effect further.

Many women experience breast asymmetry, which can cause a dent in self-esteem. A breast augmentation surgery adds volume to the breasts, making them look more attractive. If you have an uneven chest, your surgeon can add implants of varying sizes to either breast, making them more even.

What Are The Most Natural-Looking Breast Implants?

The results of breast implants differ for everyone. What looks natural on your friend may not look natural on you. Breast implants will only look natural when they fit your overall body proportion and shape.

Other factors that influence the natural look of breast implants include:

The shape and size of breast implants are critical to their final look post-op. Teardrop and round implants are the two basic breast implant shapes. Round implants have an even texture and shape, giving your boobs a full and perky look.

Teardrop implants, on the other hand, have a narrow shape at the top and are wider at the bottom. This type of breast implant mimics the shape of the breast. Therefore, they achieve more natural results than round breast implants.  However, most of the teardrop implants have been recalled because they can cause lymphoma (ALCL).  Teardrop implants can also rotate and give a bizarre appearance to your breast.  Dr. Joe Gryskiewicz will not use them.

If you are looking for natural-looking breast implants, less is more. Regarding breast implants, big is relative. Generally, the most natural breast implants for you should match your body frame and lifestyle. For example, smaller breast implants will be more fitting if you are an athletic and petite woman.

Furthermore, it is best to visit your plastic surgeon with pictures of the breast size you want. During the consultation, Dr. Joe Gryskiewicz and Dr. Karan Chopra will measure your rib cage, tissue thickness, breast fold, breast width, and distance to the belly and shoulder. These measurements help the surgeons ascertain how well a specific breast implant size may best fit you.

Silicone and saline are common breast implant materials. Saline implants are firm, and the body safely absorbs the saline solution in case of a rupture. On the other hand, silicone implants use silicone gel and are soft to the touch. Consequently, they give a natural look.

The position of your breast implants also determines the final look. Surgeons place implants in the subglandular, submuscular, and dual-plane positions.

Subglandular placement: This implant placement is best for you if you have enough breast tissue. The surgeon places the breast implants over the muscles BUT under the fascia or outer lining of the muscle.  The new Boost implants look good in this position because they rarely cause wrinkling.

Submuscular placement: this implant placement type is ideal for patients lacking breast tissue. Surgeons place the implants in a pocket under the muscles.

Dual plane placement: this implant placement achieves the most natural results. Surgeons place the upper part of the implant under the pectoralis muscle. At the same time, the implant’s lower part is placed under the mammary gland tissue.  This results in an internal lift for you.  See Dr. Joe’s paper on Dual-Plane placement where he published a series of over 2,000 patients.

Although the above factors influence the natural look of your implants, having an experienced plastic surgeon place the implants is also necessary. An experienced plastic surgeon will discuss this with you and create something that works for you. Dr. Joe Gryskiewicz and Dr. Karan Chopra have extensive experience in breast augmentation and producing natural results unique to each patient.

Why Should You Get Natural-Looking Breast Implants?

Although natural-looking breast implants are not overly large, they dramatically improve your overall physique. In addition, they make your body look more proportionate and curvy. Moreover, no one will be able to tell that you got your breasts done.

What Should You Consider When Choosing The Right Implant Size?

Now that you know the factors that affect the natural look of breast implants, it is up to you to choose what works for you. There is no general choice when it comes to breast augmentation. Instead, your preference matters. Other factors you should consider before choosing an implant size include the following:

Your body structure is crucial in selecting the implants that give you the most natural results. For instance, implants with high projection may be suitable if you have a short and petite frame. In addition, if you are tall and wide, wider implants will better fit your body frame.

Getting large implants may not significantly impact your day-to-day activities if you have a sedentary lifestyle. But if you are athletic or your job requires you to be physically active, larger breast implants may hamper your function. It is, therefore, best to choose an implant size that won’t hinder your mobility.

Your body goals determine the implant size for you. For example, suppose you want natural-looking results. In that case, your implant size will differ from someone who wants over-the-top perky breasts. Generally, it is ideal to discuss with Dr. Joe Gryskiewicz and Dr. Karan Chopra to choose realistic implants for you.

Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer

Fat grafting is a breast augmentation procedure that also achieves natural results. In addition, because the procedure requires using fat from another area of your body, you don’t have to worry about needing future surgery. Usually, you have to get a replacement surgery every ten to fifteen years if you have breast implants.

The fat extraction procedure is also known as liposuction. Common donor sites for fat include the hips, thighs, and abdomen. In addition, since the procedure is fat injection, there is minimal risk of having scars.

Who Qualifies For Natural Breast Augmentation?

Before getting breast augmentation, there are several criteria you must meet. The first criterion is good health without serious illnesses or active infections. If you are ill or have any medical issues, it is best first to discuss it with your surgeon to decide if you should still get the breast implant procedure.

In addition, avoid smoking and consuming significant amounts of alcohol to qualify for breast augmentation. You must also be able to rest post-op to prevent infections and implant failure. If you are 18 years old, you can qualify for saline implants; if you are 22 years, you can qualify for silicone implants.

Who Does Not Qualify For A Boob Job?

You are most likely not a good candidate for a breast augmentation procedure if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. In addition, if you have breast cancer, are ill, or have an infection, a breast augmentation procedure is not for you. finally, patients with unrealistic expectations of the post-op results do not qualify for a boob job.

FAQs about Breast Implants and Breast Augmentation

What is the optimal size for natural-looking breast implants?

Breast implants are measured in cubic centimeters (cc’s), and each cup size is between 180 to 200 cc’s. For natural-looking breasts, smaller implants may be a better option.

How long do breast implants last?

Although breast implants enhance your look and boost your self-confidence, they do not last a lifetime. Therefore, replacing the implants at some point, usually ten years, is necessary. Sometimes, you may need further surgery when removing or replacing implants. This is because the breast must have changed around the implants.

Do breast implants sag over time?

Yes. Initially, the sagging lets the implant fall into place and settle in the natural breast position. However, with time, the implants sag due to breast tissue aging. Larger implants sag faster because of their weight. The quality of your skin will also effect how quickly your breasts sag. Generally, implants do not start sagging till much later.

Can you lose sensation after a boob job?

It is normal to experience changes in nipple sensation after your breast implant surgery. Fortunately, this sensation should resolves within a few months.

When do breast implants look natural?

After your boob augmentation, the breasts are in a much higher position. Nevertheless, they start drooping and fluffing after the next few days. Your breasts should approach their final position in six weeks. In addition, the implants settle after three months.

Can you work out with breast implants?

After getting implants, it is best to allow your body to heal. Therefore avoid strenuous activities. You can resume exercises apart from heavy lifting within a month of the procedure. And if you want to carry out the heavy lifting, it is best to wait six weeks.

What is the age limit for breast implants?

You can get breast augmentation surgery at any age. As long as you have good health and do not have infections, you should qualify for a boob job.

How to know when you need your implants removed?

Implants are prosthetic devices and, thus, do not last a lifetime. You must visit your surgeon for an annual exam.  Dr. Joe does not charge for these visits.  You do NOT necessarily have to replace your implants every 10-years. However, the implants may need replacement before that time. Some signs that show you need to replace your implants include:

Hardness: If your implants feel hard, this could result from capsular contracture or hardened scar tissue around the implants. You may also experience hard lumps around the implants. These lumps are usually calcium deposits, and only your surgeon can address them.

Rupturing: you need to visit your surgeon for a replacement if your implant ruptures. Dr. Joe and Dr. Chopra use the Clarius ultrasound machine to look for gel implant ruptures. Saline implants leak when they rupture. Fortunately, saline is non-toxic.
